Joanna Watters - "I originally trained as an early years teacher, but have spent my adult life raising my own sons and working with people in various settings. For 10 years I worked with teenage parents helping them to organize their own support groups.
You can read more about my work here: www.thisbeautifulwork.weebly.com
I choose to work with parents since for me becoming pregnant, giving birth and being a mother of young children was an initiation into my own leadership and a cause of joy, yet also raising them as consciously as I could was also often extremely challenging.
I now have 2 adult sons, whom I raised along with their father in a split family situation, and the benefit of hindsight.
I devised and facilitate the "Growing the Grown Ups" programme at Embercombe in Devon because it is something I would have loved when my sons were younger.
And I also sit in the female Seat of the Healers on the Embercombe Council of Law."
Grow the Grown Ups
by Team: Tim Hall, Joanna Watters, Katie Kendall (tbc), Fiona Barnes (tbc)
Wednesday, June 17th 2015 8pm (CET) (UK time tbc)
In this webinar we will :
- share the ethos of Embercombe, as a “garden for growing people” in Devon, SW England;
- explain why we consider supporting parenting to be a key component of building a sustainable future;
We will outline the Grow the Grown Ups programme, and explain how each element is an important part of the week’s journey (living together simply at Embercombe, gathering in circle each day, singing together, getting involved with a hands-on land-based or craft activity, adults and children playing and working together, offering children child-led activities which are not driven by outcome, holding the adults in a safe, reflective space).
