The Embercombe Experience – July 5th – 8th 2015

We invited our French and Italian partners to experience staying at Embercombe for 3 nights.  We introduced them to many aspects of Embercombe life : the Morning Circle, Living in Community, Nature Connection, Land Based Education, Natural Learning (parents with young children).  We led a juggling workshop, showed them Mac's talk "The Children's Fire" and piloted a guided visualisation devised to support a positive relationship with our own parents: “Tending the Children’s Fire”.   Our Italian Partner came with 2 teenage boys who as well as having the opportunity to listen to and express themselves in English also enjoyed several new experiences: bee-keeping, lighting fires through friction, laying a brick path, speaking in the group check-in, staying in yurts, having free access to the woods and the Lake.

We also introduced our partners to Pat Fleming, who helped us with our funding application, who runs a local permaculture small-holding which hosts international volunteers through the WOOFing network, who offered us a Devon Cream Tea.

In addition we showed them some of the sights in Dartmoor National Park, and took them for a meal in a local traditional pub, with Embercombe's founder and our colleagues who had visited Hungary and the Czech Republic with us.
